Humber Women in the Workforce

The programme helps women in the workforce to develop their skills and gives them greater opportunities for progression at work.

The Humber Women in the Workforce project is being delivered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council using European Social Fund (ESF) investment and match funding provided by its project partners, Hull City Council, Source Solutions and the University of Hull.

The project delivers support and training to tackle barriers specific to the women in the workforce and engages with SME employers to help them address any inequalities in the workplace through training and education.

It is also working to promote positive change to workplace cultures and assist in the review of policies and procedures. The programme will also create a network of women to influence and support young women in the Humber area.

This project, which will run until the end of 2023, will ensure it tackles issues such as the female employment rate, which is considerably lower than that of men, (72.4%: 80.6%) in particular equality in women's senior roles in businesses, which has seen a rise, but is still only 28% of women on FTSE 100 Boards.
